The President of the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), Mr. Cãtãlin Marinescu, signed today, in Bucharest, a Memorandum of Understanding with the Director of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology(ANRCETI) of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Sergiu Sîtnic.
The main objective of this memorandum is to set out the necessary framework for collaboration and exchange of information between the two Authorities, with respect to the regulation and supervision of activities in the electronic communications and postal services sector, while observing their attributions in these fields.
The collaboration mainly aims at promoting the exchange of information on the applicable legislation in the electronic communications and postal services domain, the exchange of information on regulation and consulting in this domain, as well as fostering the regulatory activities of both institutions, in view of promoting competition in the electronic communications and postal services sector and the end-users interests, in line with the best practices at European community and international levels.
To this end, bilateral meetings are to be organised at management and expert level, and participation in relevant events organized by the two countries, including workshops, seminars, study tours, will be fostered.
The officials of the two institutions intend to meet annually in order to discuss the developments and suggest new means of collaboration.
ANRCETI is the public authority responsible for regulating the activities in the field of electronic communications and information technology, ensuring the implementation of development strategies in these domains, and supervising the observance of the applicable legislation by the providers of electronic communications networks and/or services in the Republic of Moldova.
